“I was Taking Bullets for You”, Says Laura Maczka to the Developer

From Mayor Laura Maczka to Mark Jordan, November 21, 2013: “FYI … And FTR, good thing I had such a fun afternoon yesterday. Because last night the prairie creek mob hit me hard! You were probably enjoying barbecue and chillaxing. I was taking bullets for you! :-)”

That is what the email to Jordan from Laura says. Honorable? Taking bullets for someone else? In this case, no.

Both the DMN and WFAA made FOI requests for all email between Maczka and Jordan. It appears all the emails subject to the FOI request were not turned over. Someone else has provided some of the email not turned over.

This could not only be an ethics probable, but may also be a legal problem. Only the attorney general can decide to withhold information, not the city staff or a council member. If the city staff or a council member wishes to withhold the information, an attorney general opinion must be sought. Or that is my understanding of the open records act.

Below is part of an email thread regarding question raise by a home owner near the Palisades development. It is a shame that Maczka appears to have such a contemptuous view of her neighbors. Maczka should be bragging about “taking bullets”, as she calls it, to protect her neighbors, not to protect a developer.

Don’t forward this to anyone. Just put it in your words……

OK…. Truly LOL on that one! You’re fairly clever at 4:31 AM.
I’ll read these responses and will obviously put them in my own words. Since we’ve already discussed the fact that I have some interesting vocabulary words and it’s fairly obvious when other people are writing for me.

Thank you for taking the time to do this for me. It really helps.

  1. If it's coming from an account other than the city email and on their server, the the City Secretary must rely on others to provide those emails. There would be no way for the CS to access them, or even know they existed in order to know they were missing. Looks to me like Laura wasn't handing them over.

  2. Be sure to wear RED to the meeting. It is Mark Jordan's favorite color after all.

    1. So Laura cuckolds her husband and their church boots him off the Sunday School staff? Yikes! I wonder if those same Christians are the ones begging Laura to take her elected Mayor position even after all these shenanigans

  7. Looked at the City website Charter - Ethics: looks like the most severe could be recommendation for recall and that might mean petitions, deadlines, etc.

And if there is a recall petition and the individual resigns, then filling the vacancy reverts to what is in the Charter.

What do the rest of you Charter scholars say? What are the possible outcomes from tonight?

Also... any guess if the rest of the Council is even being investigated? Has Staples or Shipp talked with Kendall H who (it is rumored) knew some of this and decided not to run as a result.

  8. The attorney walking by her right side is Jim Shepherd. I actually thought he had some morals based on his time in Richardson Politics.
    Think again.

  9. He does have good morals. He is probably one of the most ethical council members we have had recently. From my view, even if Laura is guilty bad criminal stuff, hiring a good attorney with good ethics doesn't say anything bad about the attorney. That just my opinion.

  10. Everyone is entitled to an attorney and an attorney may choose to work with any client.

"Guilt" or "morals" do not enter into the mix.

I am NOT a lawyer and am not worthy of tossing any stones, just giving my opinion.

My opinions also include that Mayor M should resign today and the citizens of Richardson should demand review of E.V.E.R.Y decision that Mayor M touched since she has been in office.

Grind the city to a halt? Miss some good development opportunities? Tough. It is her fault that we cannot trust her.

I have 12 names of logical NEW Council candidates for 2 yrs from now. East, West, Panhandle, various races and genders. No, I have not talked with them yet but that has to be the next task.

    1. Scott Dunn? Mark Solomon? The one-time hope Steve Mitchell? Bob T?

Doesn't matter, the City is brought to its knees by Mayor M so the next 2 years will be "Why should we trust any of you?" to any who have been in office during her reign.

  14. Bob Townsend certainly didn't call on her to resign out of any sense of moral imperative! That old waste of space is hoping he can be some kind of big fish in the Richardson pond. What an absolute bunch of lowlife losers we have on that council.

I've been around her for years. She was alway demeaning, arrogant and rude to me.

  17. Read the message carefully, consider the obvious state of mind and the implications of the state of relations between the developer and the Mayor while deliberations over the project and public input were under way. It could not be more clear that her relationship with the developer was driving here actions in office.

Emails WFAA has that I did not receive? What can I do? Mayor and Council were asked to fill out forms: Did you do or know of any laws being broken?

Hey we actually Phoned them to ask if there was anything? They all said "No". What could we do?

As for the complaints? They did not use the affidavit format so we cannot do anything there.

    1. The dynamics in the room last night far outweighed the issues-and the issues weren't small. Your recapping is spot on. It was surreal to listen to that rundown of the process. They can check the box. The council can-I'm not sure what-they have been unreal two nights in a row. The mayor woes move on to another arena. We now know all we need to know. Wow.

  19. It ain't over yet. The city bosses can have their little whitewash, but there are other, credible, investigative entities that haven't had their turn on these crooks yet.

  21. Has the FBI been contacted? Questioning her ex-husband, his ex-wife, Laura's closest friends, and the people in the neighborhood that saw them at Christmas parties together would prove they had an affair. She ran on the platform "NO APARTMENTS" if I am elected. She meets Jordan then changes her vote?!?!

    ReplyDelete
  22. FBI was made aware of far more serious corruptive matters and conflicts of interest, and they did nothing about it. This included bribery matters relayed by Jim Shepherd involving ex-mayor Snakelvich and targeting of various watchdog citizens and whistleblowers. Will this throw things over the edge and launch an investigation? I have my doubts. FBI still has my contact information.

P.S. An attorney does have choice in what clients they represent, and Shepherd has taken the low road by choosing to line his pockets with tainted funds.

  23. The FBI is fully aware of this matter. If you have information that will help their investigation, contact them at 972-559-5000.

  24. 1. You elected someone with no ethics; why are you shocked? Anyone that knows LM should know that she is competitive above all else and will throw anyone and everyone around her under the bus to come out on TOP.

    2. I despise people that play the HEALTH ISSUE CARD" for sympathy. Truly. I find that a majority of time it is inflated for self promotion. Case and point here- since 2007 have you jogged? Played tennis? Hang at Country Club pool in daylight? Your own pool? People who worry about skin cancer and have experienced Mose surgery DONT do these things....they DO NOT. People who had a suspect mole removed DO all the time.

    3. Publicity. Anyone understand that there is no such thing as bad publicity, only Free PUBLICITY? I personally thing this was all pretty well thought out and strategic in nature. Sizzle and Fizzle...but name of the project and the developer, -people are going to remember, but they may not remember WHY....

  25. She, her sleazy predecessor, and all the rest of them are pathological liars. Being criminally competitive and having loose as a goose morals is not something that the Fifth Reich should be very proud of. It's really pathetic to see someone pull the health card - and also her now tainted attorney swallowing real hard on that one.
