Richardson Leadership Discourages Being a Good Neighbor and Promotes Rat-Out-A-Neighbor

What kind of neighbor do you want? A busy buddy neighbor who is always watching you and sticks their nose into your business? Or would you prefer a good neighbor who minds their own business and is friendly and supportive?

For as long as I can remember the proper behavior to have a good peaceful neighborhood was to mind your own business and if you see a neighbor that might need help, offer help. It was generally best to talk to your neighbor about your plans to do something to your property that might in some nature have an effect on their property, communications in short. Communications with neighbors solves most problems.

Richardson developed an iphone and android app to make it very easy to rat-out-your-neighbor. Check out this web page: http://www.cor.net/index.aspx?page=1162

What is missing from that page is a suggestion for a person to first talk to their neighbor about a problem and escalation of a concern to report them to the authorities.

Here are some of the ways you can make use of Richardson’s Rat-Out a Neighbor Program:

Here is a website by Richardson to poke your nose into where registered rental home are. It reminds me of other website that show where sex offenders live and another website in NY where it maps out where all the registered guns happen to be.

  1. It's such BS to say "HOAs use the rental map to reach out to renters." I'm going to ask my neighbors who are members of an HOA in Dunn's area if they've ever used the map to welcome renters. There are very few rentals in this HOA so it'll be easy to find out.

    1. If the purpose of the map is to welcome renters, it should have a "Welcome" button instead of "Report a Possible Rental"!
It really sounds like the city considers certain HOAs the only valid constituents.

Obviously, the council considers certain HOAs the only valid constituents.

    3. Most people do not even know the crap these people put out there. Sometimes I wonder if they ever go back and listen to what they have said. And if they did, was there a light bulb moment on how really stupid and juvenile they sound?

This lie about the property values will decline if some light maintenance is not done timely is a farce. I can tell you of a house in the City that was valued at basically the value of the lot. An investor bought it and gutted the place and subsequently sold it. The property values of the neighboring houses did not go down, nor did the sale make them go up. Because it was sold at the relative value of the neighborhood. Period. People who do not understand real estate should refrain from comment, but stupidity seems to prevail.

People have been lied to and should be incensed by the reality.

Dunn lies because he does not know the difference. His ego is so big and he loves City freebies. It gives him some sense of power, obviously. He is never going to look for the truth. He is never going to help anyone in the City unless they believe the crap he chooses to believe. He is the first Councilman needs to be replaced in a really big way.

If you are naive, stupid and follows the pied piper, the Coalition will get you elected. Welcome to Richardson. The City of bullies recruiting bullies.

    4. Wonder if they check the map and welcome registered sex offenders with the same gusto, Dunn? Sometimes opening your mouth removes all doubt.

    5. There seems to be a consensus about which council man needs to go first :)

    Sounds right to me.

Not sure why the city govt wants a hand it in, and even less sure why neighbors would want to play stooge.

What if we make a list of houses where people lease their cars, or rent their furniture, or attend a non-selective college. Ya know, gotta keep the "wrong people" out. Bonus points for saying what they can and can't do with their own property.

  3. People avoid HOA's and become anti-social because of these asinine public policies. Communist Party and Gestapo-like loyalists think they have to control the world. There are lots of other places better than Richardson to live. Sell the house to some other sucker and move to a civilized city.

  4. Telling on neighbor, which is what the communist trained their populace to do. Sad to see the city officials use these kinds of tactics.

  5. It is not limited to just that. The trash guys get a $5 bounty on every junked vehicle they report. No telling what other bountiees city administrators pay city employeess for on other things.

  6. Our sprinkler accidentally came on during the week. A neighbor let us know so we won't get cited. That's what being a good neighbors is about!
