Naming Things After Living People, Not a Good Idea

Now Richardson has a ballpark named after Bill Keffler. Seems like it might be appropriate. He did like to "play ball".

Maybe when the time comes a sewage treatment plan can be named for one of our former mayors.

  1. Public service has a very large ego. This is disgusting. Eisemann Center glorification. The shrine to Noah at the Courts Building. And now this. Someone have a barf bucket handy?

  2. The Stalin Monument in Budapest and many other statues in the former USSR were built while he was alive.

  3. Keffler Ballfields. I have no problem with anyone putting their own name on a building they put up their own money and sweat to build. This is just wrong. Keffler is well paid for the job he held as CM. And he stole $350k is sick pay plus 4 weeks of vacation buybacks every year. This is sickening.

There is the Eisemann Center paid for with CO's and good ol Chuckie gets his name on the building and never put up a dime.

Noah gets a shrine out of the Courts building. It is not like he did anything philanthropic. He is the Judge and paid well for the position.

There has got to be something in the works for Slagel. Oh and the Mascara Natatorium she wants so badly.

This is not public service people!

  4. Oh, you have got to be kidding! I surely thought that one day they would name the men's room at The Eisemann Center after Keffler AND Slagel. You know, Keffler stall #1 and Slagel stall #2. Everyone else in the RC has their name at the Eisemann.

  5. What's the big deal? They were going to build the fields anyway. Why do you care what they name it?m In no way does this affect you.

  6. For all the talk Laura had about not being one of them, lots of stuff to the contrary. Last time I will vote for her.

  7. Where is Mike? I thought he was taking Laura's place when it came to coalition matters?

  8. Common rules about naming public entities Richardson does not follow:

    1. Only name buildings for dead people,

    2. Only use the names of admirable people,

    3. Recognize substantial individual contributions,

    4. Ensure a gift large enough to justify the recognition by name,

    5. Avoid changing the name already on a building,

    6. Avoid using corporate names for permanent recognition,

    7. Use more relaxed rules for naming exterior spaces,

    8. Allow flexibility in naming interior spaces,

    9. Avoid naming things for departing administrators, however beloved

    10. Be prepared for controversy over naming choices.

    1. Exactly! Respectable old woman are modest and not wear clingy, sheer garments. It's disgusting. Reminds me of an unsatiated sex-craved skank far beyond prime.

    2. Is that a Catholic vanity t-shirt Keffler the alter boy is wearing? Did he earn it or buy it?
