The Girl in Red

Someone, somewhere, made the comment that Laura likes red.Well it seems they were more perceptive than me and she always has a very nice appearance wearing red. So, I remembered something about watching the girl in red. And something about the system.

Richardson City Council candidate Laura Maczka’s smear campaign is just sad

Things change. This morning I was going to start of the day having some fun with a conspiracy theory and will surely make the mark of target to be rebutted on the local rumor blog checker creator, or whatever you might want to call it. That will just have to wait a bit.

An item I see as more important is another letter to the editor bringing to light the bad acting out of the Richardson Coalition and Laura Maczka.

Getting Voted Off the Island on Facebook

Some of the people in Richardson Heights had the bright idea of setting up a Facebook page just for political expression. The intent was to keep political speech off the main Heights Facebook page. It seems to have worked out well.

But, there was one of those “evil” and “despised” kind of people who prefers to post “anonymous”.

This weekend, their time with the group came to an end. The group members were asked to vote if they wanted to let anonymous stay or force him to depart. He/she added a category on which to vote which read “Funny the one that posted facts cannot post … Democracy at work! Sorry Socialism”. That probably didn’t help him/her much.

His adding that selection made me change my vote to let him/her stay. Sometimes the funniest things come from people who post anonymously. And who doesn't like to have fun? Come to find out though, voting “don’t care” did not remove my “No” vote.

I’ll be going to the official polls in just a little bit. Maybe this year year my lucky year, I can vote both early and often.

Laura Gets a “Real” Endorsement from a Local Blogger

I have to admit, the last supposed independent blogger to write an endorsement for Laura made quite a hoot and gave . It turned out he was paid probably somewhere around $1,500 for that endorsement. When the financials come out we will know for sure.

This latest endorsement, however, is a “real” endorsement from a “real” blogger who probably “really” does supports who he considers is the best choice for mayor. Darn! No fun to be poked at that unless we later find out she secretly paid him for the endorsement. Then, funtime will begin again!

A few Videos from the Amir Omar Campaign

Amir Omar has put together a collection of videos from the recent forums and his political ads. Here is the link to the page where the video can be found:

Here is my favorite.

Political Opinion Based Photoshopping

Apparently, there seems to be some kind of competition for who can be the most creative and Photoshop. Competing with Destiny and a few other people, yet again someone else sent me another work of creativity. It is sure to offend some. It is sure to make some people laugh. It is sure to be amusing to some but not to others. It is definitely an expression of political opinion.

Laura Purchasing an Endorsements Chuck(le) the Mayor’s Race

The other night, someone posted something on a Facebook page, “the Lone Star Reporter: LAURA MACZKA, The Right Choice for Richardson’s Mayor”.

It presents a glowing review of Laura Maczka and no quite so glowing for Amir Omar. My first impressions were that this was a pretty good thing for Laura. But I think it might do her more harm than good in the end.

Unfortunately for Laura, the Video Does Not Lie

A few days ago the Amir Omar campaign sent out a mailer quoting Laura’s Maczka comments at the April 9th Tea Party forum. He claimed she said “We are now an inner city.” Some have tried to discount this quote as being taken out of context.
The Laura Maczka campaign then sent out an email with the header “Alert! You will not believe what Omar said about Laura…” The email then goes on to say:

Diverse Little Town -

Some Political Ad from McKinney,Texas

Yesterday, a person posted something over on the Facebook page “Richardson Politics” about how there seemed to be nothing positive about Laura Maczka. Well, this morning she what she thought was mixing with a post of her own. Things will probably get more interesting over there. Mike Maczka is now a member of that group also.

Anyway, a blogger up in McKinney wrote a piece that was pro-Laura (which is fine). The fine print at the bottom of the page seems to indicate that just maybe it was not just a blog piece, but it was a blog piece paid for by the Laura Maczka Campaign.
Hmmm, I think I may be missing out. No political disclaimers on my site.

Coming to You Live from the Cancerous Armpit of the Inner City …

The list of descriptions for Southwest Richardson continues to grow. Southwest Richardson is a cancer of the city. Southwest Richardson is this or that. Now, Southwest Richardson is part of “an inner city” according to Laura Maczka.

New Sign Suggestion for the Maczka Campaign

It seems Destiny is not the only creative and imaginative person in Richardson. She has some competition closing in fast! Someone sent me a newly designed campaign sign that they feel represents the real "reality" in Richardson politics. Get read to be offended (after the jump)!

More Leadership from Behind …

… or more accurately, a total lack of leadership from Laura Maczka.

It seems Laura Maczka is once again leading from behind with this quote in today’s DMN newspaper: “In an interview, Maczka expressed neither approval nor disapproval of the mailing’s content. She said it’s a matter between Omar and the Richardson Coalition.”

Destiny is On a ROLL Today

Just think of all the funny things we have been missing over the past two years as real life and family have taken over Destiny’s #1 priority.

So, there I am, minding my own business (reading Destiny’s blog), when all of a sudden, the next thing I know, I am on the floor after having fallen out of my chair (ok, I really didn’t fall out of my chair, but I was LMFAO at what I saw). I really did laugh loud enough for others around me to stop what they were doing and consider my unusual actions.

New Use Found for Richardson Coalition Mailer

Some people have a lots of imagination. Some people have a good sense of humor. And some people have both. It seems Destiny was just trying to help, with their branding. Thanks Destiny!

The Last Forum for 2013 and the Richardson Coalition Mailer

The LVW put the forum on, about 232 people attended, and even G.A.S was there. It was the place to be last night.

As for the performance of the candidates, they were both good again and as expected. There was a bit a tension. There was one time that Laura Maczka seemed speechless. Amir Omar had just finished answering a question and from where I was sitting, it looked like snapped her head around looking at Amir slack-jawed. But then again, maybe it just appears that way from where I was sitting.

Destiny Says ...

Destiny Says ...

Honesty and Transparency Lacking

Thanks to something said by a council person's wife on facebook and confirmed by Amir Omar's email, it can be surmised that all of the council members and some of the Richardson Coalition leadership were given the facts about the Richardson Coalition mailer before it landed on doorsteps informing them the allegations were false. This notice that the information was false would have been known to Laura Maczka.
As for being honest and transparent, she has failed the test. Even after knowing the information was false, she hitched her wagon to the Richardson Coalition and doubled down on spreading the inaccurate information.

Someone Asks, "So what is this big bad Richardson Coalition I keep hearing about?!?!?!?

Just a short break for some humor. Which answer to this question most amuses you? Got it from a facebook page, https://www.facebook.com/#!/groups/407591149339593/

The High Road, 4 Way Test and a Legal Action Pending

The Richardson Coalition might have bitten off more than it bargained for as Laura Maczka embraces the Richardson Coalition's latest attempt to scare seniors and help spread misinformation. Things are about to get more interesting and intense.

An answer to the Richardson Coalition’s misinformation has finally come out from the Amir Omar campaign. The lack of specifics probably will make it more ominous than anything we have seen before in Richardson politics. An unpleasant take-down seems to be headed the Richardson Coalition’s way. It might be headed the way for the Laura Maczka campaign too as it seems she had prior notice that the Richardson Coalition claims were not true and a misrepresentation of fact.

Here is the letter sent out just a little bit ago by the Amir Omar campaign.

More and More People Seem to Be Taking Notice

I don’t know Peggy, but I do like the way she thinks and what she has to say.

Daylight Disappearing

When the race for mayor began, I had concerns about Laura Maczka and the ties that bind her and the Richardson Coalition. She said she was aware of people’s concerns about that and was using a different political consultant than the one the Richardson Coalition uses. That did not last very long apparently; they both use the same consultant now.

With a Grain of Salt ... Ignore the Man Behind the Curtain

This morning I have had an interesting exchange of email with a person who identifies themself as a Richardson Coalition member. Maybe they are. Maybe they aren’t. I am going with it because what they say has the ring of truth for as far as I can see. So I guess I will have to wait a while and see if it comes back to bite me as a piece of fiction. So, with a grain of salt included…….

What they say pretty much confirms what people have been saying. Chuck Eisemann is the Richardson Coalition and there are others around who basically do what he says. Here is part of the first email:

Richardson's China Town

It appeared Laura had Richardson's china town for herself. But, not so fast. Looks like the Chinese community is about as split on the choice of mayor as is the rest of Richardson.

Total Class from Amir

Amir Omar has provided very much class act response to the Richardson Coalition's Senior Voter’s Guide mailed out the other day. The question remains whether Laura Maczka will respond in like manner by condemning the actions of the Richardson Coalition and return the money given to her by those who have supported the Richardson Coalition and their deplorable actions.

Here is a link to Amir’s response:

Also, after the jump, is the text to his response.

Greenwood Hills/JJ Pearce Forum

The Greenwood Hills/JJ Pearce forum was held last night. It appears that Laura’s final statement was pretty much an argument for the status quo.

Anonymous said...
At tonight's forum, Laura said "My opponent is endorsed by unions and a special interest group" while she's endorsed by the DMN, 5 council members and 18 past council members, without mentioning the RC.
Then she said "Do you trust the DMN?" Someone in the audience said, "NO!"
A committee screened questions. None of my questions were asked. Someone else said the same thing. I saw at least 40 questions had been collected from the audience. Fewer than 15 questions, mostly from the HOAs, were asked.

New Math, Creative Math and the Richardson Coalition

The leaders of the Richardson Coalition probably would not recognize the truth if it jumped up and bit them in their ass. They seem to have for a long time divorced themselves from the truth.

In their typical fashion, they are trying to pull another sneaky on Richardson citizens. They sent out an email this making the claim, based on the latest campaign financial report; Laura Maczka had raised $40,812 from within Richardson in her run for mayor. They also claimed, based on the campaign financial reports that Amir Omar had raised $28,042 from within Richardson. For them to come to that conclusion, they must be using New Math, Creative Math or be just stupid enough to think people lack the ability to add up numbers.

Greenwood Hills/JJ Pearce Forum Tonight

Thunder rolled in about 5am this morning along with some much needed rain. It might be thundering in Richardson for a bit longer than just today after what happened yesterday. Will have to wait and see.

There are Some Good Ole Songs I Like…

… and Laura did a take-off, kind of,  on one of them. Nancy Sinatra had kind of an odd and sexy voice doing that song. And if Laura does happen to "walk all over me", at least it won't hurt too much.

A few days ago Laura sent out an email updating her activities, pounding the pavement and knocking on doors. Apparently she and her helper contacted almost 1000 people. She is working for every vote.

This morning Amir sent out an email saying your voice was heard, loud and clear. Some on council may need one of those old hearing aids that look like part of an old record player to get the message though. They didn’t seem to hear the public desire very well you when they shot down further discussion of direct election. It is funny going back to the recording of that work session and seeing Mark Solomon saying he had hear nothing of how people wanted direct election. I think he might have heard when 75% of the voters in the charter change voted to say, “heck ya, we wanna elect our mayor”. But, you never know for sure.

"Crazy Strong" is How it was Described

Before I saw the last mailer someone told me it was "Crazy Strong!" I have to agree. It is probably the best mailer I have seen in Richardson politics.

http://graphics.dc-tm.com/AmirMailer-4172013.pdf

About the only way things could be “stronger” would be for the candidates to start breaking out the 2x4s and start whacking each other over their heads with them. Quite a slugfest!

Pouring on the Coal

Laura Maczka seems to be pouring on the coal about 30 days before final vote will be cast. She, her dad, and her supporters are pounding the pavement and knocking on doors to get the vote out, and get those voters to vote for her.

Amir is Whipping Laura, Badly, According to the Financial Reports

The financial reports from January and April should provide lots to talk about and consider.

One of the complaints I seem to remember a time or two being made is that of how much money Amir Omar seems to be getting from outside of Richardson. Well, he is putting the whipping on Laura Maczka in that area of fund raising.

Campaign Finance Reports Are In

Lots of good information in the reports.

Both Laura Maczka and Amir Omar got money from Richardson, in state money, and out of state money.

But the big news is the number of donors and how they were listed. Amir listed every single donation, even the $1 donations. Laura did not list all of her under $50 donations. Had she listed them, there would have probably been a few surprises.

I have not counted yet, but I think Amir will have twice the number of donors as does Laura.

Also of interest is that Amir has raised more funds than Laura.

Both the total number of donors and the total contributions probably give Amir an edge in the mayor's race. It can hurt him to have those numbers.

For those who have nothing better to do, here are the reports:

Richardson Coalition Shows Signs of Splitting

A Richardson Coalition member has decided to go her own way, make decision to think for herself and not follow the leaders of the Richardson Coalition. She decided to support Amir Omar for mayor. Good for her.

Political Sign are Missing from All Over Town

Plano and Renner, for the time being, is free from what people no doubt consider eye pollution. It looks like the people farming the land took exception to the placement of about $800 worth of signs on the corner. They took down all of the signs. It looks like they may not be supporting any candidate this year.

So, while signs may be missing all over town and may be due to some underhanded dealings, we know for sure what happened to the signs at Renner and Plano, and theere was nothing under-handed to it.

League of Women Voters of Richardson Questions

The League of Women Voters of Richardson sent out a questionair to the candidates for city counci. The following are the questions and links to their answers. The two questions that most interested me were #11 and #12.

2. Why do you want to be a Richardson City Council member?

3. How many Richardson City Council board meetings have you attended? What City of Richardson boards and/or commissions have you served on? Give specific examples of your civic involvement.

Tuesday Night Smack Down at Sonny Brian’s

There were just a few items missing from last night’s mayor debate: Blood and guts, fat lips and bloody noses. It was a slugfest! It was just the opposite of the love-fest every Monday night at the council sessions where consensus seems to rule.

Both candidates came out strongly with their views. It was a good debate but could have been made much better with choices on the questions. Some were very lame softball questions and had nothing to do with the determination of whether the candidate is qualified to be mayor.

The Tip of an Iceberg – Use of Roving Quorums Appears to Have Been Admitted To

At the HTNA forum last week, there was something said that slipped by me at the time until another person brought it up, Laura Maczka seemingly to admit that the city council uses “Roving Quorums” to place items on the agenda for the city council.

Tea Party Q & A Tonight

Questions for the Candidates for Mayor (should they choose to answer)

Now is the time for questions and answers from the candidate for mayor. So, I have put together a few questions that hold the most interest for me. I sent these questions out to both candidates about 11am this morning. I told them if they answer I will post their response word for word. So far, I have not had and responses from either of them, which is not a surprise. They are probably juggling more things in a week than I do in a month, maybe even though out a whole year (pretty boring and uneventful life). I hope they do answer the questions. If they don’t take the time to answer the questions listed, then it won’t be considered a big deal by me either. So after the jump the 11 questions I am most interested in.
As for comments about the questions, please feel free to express if you think they questions are good, bad or a waste of time.
If you have your own questions, email the candidate. They will probably answer your requests.

Update 4/9 - The Amir Omar Campaign contacted me and said they would be pleased to answer the questions.

Wasting Some Fuel on a Sunday Drive

Sunday, after breakfast, I decided to take a drive through a few neighborhoods looking for Amir and Laura signs.

Throughout the Cottonwood Heights area the Amir signs outnumbered the Laura signs by more than a 2-1 ratio.

A Vote for Laura Maczka is a Vote for More Debt, She Says

Last night we held our spring meeting for the Cottonwood Heights NA. Both Laura Maczka and Amir Omar were there to make a pitch for themselves for mayor and to answer two questions the board members supplied them in advance.

Destiny is Back. YEA!

The DMN Endorses Laura Maczka

From the DMN: http://www.dallasnews.com/opinion/editorials/20130402-editorial-we-recommend-laura-maczka-for-richardson-mayor.ece

“…It’s telling that every former mayor and every council member who now serves with the two candidates endorse Maczka, 48, over Omar, 41. That provides a glimpse at which candidate inspires trust and how their leadership abilities are regarded inside City Hall… Public bodies often benefit from a person willing to push against the grain. The question is whether that person best serves a city as the guiding force on the council.”

My Take on the Terrace Debate Tonight

The debate tonight was much better than the debates two years ago. The first thing that made it better was that the debate featured only two candidates, Laura Maczka and Amir Omar.

Both candidates appeared very well prepared and appeared very professional in their handling of the questions. There was some evasion of direct answers. Since I favor Amir in this election, it was easiest for me to spot Laura's evasiveness, even more so because the question where she appeared to be evasive about was my question. The question was on fund sweeps. I thought Amir handled that question direct and provided a good answer. If a fund is gathering too much money from fees, more money than it can spend, the fees should be reduced to match expenses.

Where Is All The Information About Upcoming Forums?

Maybe it is my imagination, but it seems that the city leadership and one of the candidates wish to keep as low keyed as possible the upcoming forums. Last night I did get an email from Amir's campaign listing the upcoming forums.

Tonight there should be an interesting forum held by the Highland Terreace NA at the MSTM school, 450 Abrams Road from 7 to 9 pm.

Ripped Off From Amir's Facebook Page Without Permission

This afternoon I was looking around for a list of upcoming forums and could not find them. But, I did find this and it is a view I share. Wtihout asking for permission to post it here, here is the link to it:

Hi Amir,

Last night you experienced in a concentrated dose what many of us in the community have experienced from the Coalition in more subtle diffused ways. WHY on earth is the entire City Council unopposed?  Every single solitary place is unopposed.  Why?  Because no one wants to stand up to the ridicule, to being ostracized, to being maligned for not conforming to the Coalition.  What does that say about how the City is run?!  I am voting for you because you dare to be bold.

Whaa, Whaa, Whaa Cries the Richardson Coalition
